- Nile-front properties — many East Bank hotels offer river views facing the West Bank's mountains, especially striking at sunset

- Luxor gets extremely hot May through September — air conditioning quality is worth checking when you eventually book elsewhere
- Most Valley of the Kings visits happen early morning before the heat sets in
